If you’re new to the phrase, a short explanation will help the rest of
the site make sense.
“Gathering Israel” is a phrase from scripture and Latter-day Saint
teaching. In the Bible and in the Book of Mormon, God often refers to His
covenant people as “Israel” — a family of faith, not a
nationality. To “gather” Israel is to help God’s children
come to know Jesus Christ, choose to follow Him, and walk with others who are
doing the same.
In Latter-day Saint teaching, this gathering happens as ordinary people share
what they believe, invite others to learn, support missionaries, strengthen
families, and make covenants with God through sacred ordinances in His
authorized Church.
We took the name “Gathering Israel” because it captures
what inspires us — the idea that God is still inviting His
children to Him, and that ordinary people can help. The gathering itself is
the Lord’s work, done through His authorized Church. Our small, specific
contribution is to help sincere seekers take a first step toward Jesus Christ
— and, when they’re ready, to help them connect with official
Church resources and full-time missionaries.
