Privacy Policy.

We handle your information the way we would want ours handled — carefully, respectfully, and only for the reasons we tell you about.

Gathering Israel (“Gathering Israel,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Utah, United States. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use this website or interact with our outreach—including through ads on TikTok, Meta (Facebook/Instagram), Google, YouTube, and other platforms—how we use it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.

Gathering Israel is not owned, operated, sponsored, approved, or endorsed by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Information you share with us is not shared with the Church unless you specifically ask us to help connect you with missionaries or other official Church resources.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us directly

  • Contact information — your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, preferred language, and country, provided when you email us, fill out a form on this website, or submit a Lead Generation Ad on TikTok, Meta, Google, or similar platforms.
  • Lead-form responses — when you complete an ad lead form on TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Google, or WhatsApp, we receive the information you submit through that form, which may include your name, email, phone number, location (city, state, ZIP/postal code, country), preferred language, and any optional answers you choose to provide.
  • Missionary contact requests — when you ask us to help connect you with full-time missionaries, we collect the details needed to pass your request through official Church channels.
  • Donation information — name, email, billing address, and gift amount, collected by our payment processor. We do not see or store your full credit card number.
  • SMS opt-in consent — if you provide your mobile number and consent to receive text messages, we record that consent, the date and method of opt-in, and your message preferences.

Information collected automatically

  • Log data — IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring URL, and timestamps collected by our servers whenever you visit this site.
  • Advertising platform metadata — ad ID, campaign ID, form ID, submission timestamp, and limited engagement statistics (impressions, clicks) provided by TikTok, Meta, Google, and other advertising platforms we use.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — pixels, tags, and tracking scripts used for site functionality, analytics, and advertising measurement. See our Cookie Settings page for details and opt-out controls.

We do not request, receive, or otherwise obtain backend access to your social media profiles. If you publicly interact with our social pages, we can view only the same public information any other user can see.

2. How we use your information

  • To provide and operate this website and respond to your questions and requests.
  • To fulfill the specific request you made—for example, to send you a digital or printed copy of the Book of Mormon, arrange a missionary meeting, or schedule a church visit.
  • To verify genuine interest by briefly contacting you to confirm your details, answer questions, and coordinate follow-up at a time that works for you.
  • To pass missionary contact requests through official Church channels only when you ask us to.
  • To process donations, issue receipts, and send impact updates.
  • To send SMS text messages or email updates you have opted into (you can opt out at any time—see Section 5).
  • To measure and improve our outreach—understanding which content and ads are helpful—using aggregated and anonymized data.
  • To comply with applicable laws and respond to lawful legal requests.

Legal basis (EU/UK users): We process your information on the basis of your consent (for lead forms, SMS, and marketing emails), our legitimate interest in fulfilling our nonprofit mission, and compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior processing.

3. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to run the nonprofit and only with parties who are contractually bound to protect it:

  • Service providers — CRM systems, email and SMS delivery platforms, payment processors, website hosting providers, and analytics tools that process data on our behalf and under our instruction.
  • Advertising platforms — TikTok, Meta (Facebook/Instagram), Google, YouTube, and similar platforms receive data through pixels, lead forms, and platform integrations we use to run outreach campaigns. Each platform governs the data it collects directly from users under its own privacy policy.
  • Missionaries and local Church representatives — only after you explicitly consent and confirm your interest in connecting with them. We share only the minimum details needed to facilitate that connection.
  • Legal authorities — when required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, safety, or integrity of our operations.
  • Organizational changes — if Gathering Israel ever merges with, is acquired by, or transfers assets to another organization, your information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.

4. Advertising and analytics

We run outreach campaigns on digital advertising platforms including TikTok, Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google, and YouTube to place faith-promoting content in front of people who may be searching for answers about Jesus Christ. When you interact with one of our lead generation ads, the following applies:

  • The information you submit through a TikTok Lead Generation Ad is received by both TikTok and Gathering Israel. TikTok may use that information in accordance with its own Privacy Policy and Lead Generation Terms, including to pre-fill future forms you may complete.
  • We and our advertising partners may use cookies, pixels, and similar tracking technologies on this site to measure ad performance and improve targeting.
  • You can control advertising cookies through our Cookie Settings page, your browser settings, or the opt-out tools provided by each platform (e.g., Meta Ad Preferences, Google Ad Center, TikTok settings).

5. SMS communications

If you provide your mobile phone number through our website forms, advertising lead forms, or other opt-in methods, you are consenting to receive SMS text messages from Gathering Israel in response to your request for contact.

  • Messages are conversational and sent only to individuals who voluntarily request communication. We do not send unsolicited marketing messages.
  • Message frequency varies depending on your engagement but typically does not exceed 1–2 messages per week unless you continue the conversation.
  • Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier plan.
  • To opt out: Reply STOP to any message at any time. Reply HELP for assistance, or contact us at support@gatheringisrael.org.
  • Mobile phone numbers and SMS consent are never sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes.
  • Consent to receive SMS messages is not a condition of any donation or service.

6. Your choices and rights

  • Unsubscribe from email — use the unsubscribe link in any email we send.
  • Opt out of SMS — reply STOP to any text message.
  • Access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing support@gatheringisrael.org.
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format.
  • Opt out of advertising cookies via our Cookie Settings page or platform-level ad preference tools.
  • Withdraw consent for any processing based on consent, without affecting prior processing.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights:

    • California (CCPA/CPRA): right to know, delete, correct, opt out of “sale” or sharing, and limit use of sensitive personal information.

Contact us at support@gatheringisrael.org to exercise any of these rights. We will respond within 30 days.

7. How we protect information

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that information transmitted over the internet is invulnerable. If we learn of a security incident affecting your information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

8. How long we keep information

We retain personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy:

  • Lead and contact data — retained for up to 24 months after your last interaction, or until you request deletion.
  • Donor records — retained for 7 years to meet IRS and legal record-keeping obligations for nonprofit organizations.
  • SMS consent records — retained for the life of the SMS program plus 4 years to demonstrate compliance.
  • Server logs — retained for up to 90 days for security and technical purposes.
  • Aggregated, anonymized analytics — may be retained indefinitely for mission planning and research, as they cannot identify you.

You may request deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting support@gatheringisrael.org.

9. Children

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
